Overview JMC 2033

JMC 2033 is a class students must take if they are enrolled in the Gaylord College of Journalism at the University of Oklahoma. The class teaches those enrolled writing skills that will help them throughout their career. Whether the student chooses a field in Advertising, Marketing, or any journalistic field: this class will help.

The class is divided into two sections, one of them being the lecture portion. The lecture portion of the class is taught by Dr. Steyn and her teaching assistant, Sarah Cavanah. The lecture part of the class focuses on the basics, and takes a broader look at the journalistic field and the writing that it employs. The lecture will teach things like vocabulary and show examples from outside sources. Dr. Steyn basically teaches the skills that are necessary to succeed in the other part of the class: the lab.

The lab is the other section of the course, and is much more focused on the student producing work. Students will learn through experience and hands on teaching how to write correctly for media.

After this course the goal is for the student to know how to effectively write and communicate in their field.
